U.S. Smartphone Ownership Reaches All Time High 300x150 U.S. Smartphone Ownership Reaches All Time HighOn Friday, comScore confirmed that U.S. smartphone ownership reached a new all-time high during the previous quarter ending October 31st.
Freshly published data from comScore MobiLens and Mobile Metrix, which reports key trends in the U.S. smartphone industry, confirmed that 149.2 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones (62.5 percent mobile market penetration) during the three months covered in the report.
That’s up another 4.1 percent since July.

Apple once again ranked as the top smartphone manufacturer with a 40.6 percent OEM market share. Android, however, led as the top smartphone platform with 52.2 percent platform market share. Once again, Google Sites ranked as the top mobile media property.
Together, Apple and Google now control – okay, dominate – 92.2% of the market with BlackBerry and Symbian losing share.

Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform saw some slight gains in the last quarter, but not enough to meaningfully – or even noticeably – register on anyone’s radar.
